MOBILE TV APPLICATION

As a User Experience Model lead for various handsets from keypad to smart phones, ranging from native applications to android applications, integrating with telecom operators and designing keypad layouts.

Penetration of 3G services in India had given rise to rich applications. What services can seep into the small screen? 
 

Mobile TV, viewing Live TV through your mobile

Mobile has become a ubiquitous object , right from the minute we are woken up by its alarm. Many products have been merged into
this device and hence has moved on from being desirable to a necessity.

PROCESS                        

RESEARCH                                                                                                   Users were studied across a specific age group in the initial phase of the project .Capturing stories through intercept interviews and shadowing techniques. A 'day in the life' of the users gave an insight  to their multi phone activities.

ANALYSIS                                                                                                   Observations were mapped on scale of functional and emotional features. A break up of the task analysis was essential to understand the human product interaction.UI flows were created based on the User Journeys.

INSIGHTS AND STORIES                                                                  Observations made were all drawn from stories that people had shared during the research. Using the material, Personas were built; which consisted of their profile, interests, ambitions and stories.                                                             

PROTOTYPING THE EXPERIENCE                                                           The second level prototype was on the phone and was running the UI with existing entertainment mediums on the mobile handset , The content were aired based on the User's Profile to generate feedback.This helped to prioritise elements in the UI and content.

PAPER PROTOTYPING                                                                                   The users were interviewed using paper prototypes and co -creation helped to discover preferences and to test aspects like Rating and Guides.   Feedback was taken for essential and desirous features.

EVALUATION

Wireframes and User Flows were designed and through iterative process were developed.                                                                                                           Post first level of development ,Usability Tests were conducted to evaluate the application.The test focussed on the navigation of program guides which involved tasks pertaining to Bollywood and Cricket.

FINAL APPLICATION  

 After second level of Field testing, the application was first launched for the  FIFA World Cup 2010
